Proceeds to enhance playground

Okmulgee Primary School is calling on the community to run for a fun cause with their annual 5K run/walk set to take place on Thursday, May 9. The fun run will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the

5K beginning at 8:45 a.m. Both races will start at Okmulgee Primary School.

This year’s event, spearheaded by the school’s Healthy and Fit advisory committee, aims to raise the remaining $5,000 needed to complete vital additions to the playground for pre-k and kindergarten students.

Last year, the school successfully raised $4,566.68 for this project, which focuses on creating safe and enjoyable play areas to help students release energy and improve mental focus.

Registration for the event is $25, which includes a commemorative t-shirt. Okmulgee Primary is also offering sponsorship opportunities; businesses contributing $250 or more will have their names featured on the back of the 5K t-shirts.
