Statewide candidate filing begins today

Local offices include District 2 Commissioner, Sheriff

The statewide candidate filing period is scheduled for April 3-5. Candidate filing hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the three-day period. Candidates filing for federal, state, and legislative offices will file with the Secretary of the State Election Board at the State Capitol, located at 2300 N. Lincoln Boulevard, Okla- homa City. Filing will take place on the ground floor of the State Capitol. Candidates filing for county offices will file at their local County Election Board office.

Okmulgee County Election Board Secretary Ashley Carnes said the following offices are expected to be filled this year: County Commissioner District 2, County Clerk, County Court Clerk, and County Sheriff.

Filing forms and information for county offices may be obtained by contacting the Okmulgee County Election Board at 918-756-235 or OkmulgeeCounty@elections.ok.gov.

The Okmulgee County Election Board is located at 314 W. 7th Street, Room 102 and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Filing packets for all offices are also available for download on the State Election Board’s website at oklahoma. gov/elections.

The filing period closes at 5 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024. To see who has filed for office, visit the Oklahoma State Election Board website at https://oklahoma.gov/ elections.html.

Candidates should thoroughly review all instructions, forms, and qualifications which are included in the candidate filing packet and on the State Election Board website. A candidate filing checklist is included in each packet for the convenience of candidates.

New this year, state, legislative, and county candidates will be required to include a Voter Registration Verification Form with their Declaration of Candidacy. The Voter Registration Verification Form can be obtained through the OK Voter Portal by selecting the “Reports” button or from the voter’s County Election Board or the State Election Board.

The election dates for the Special Elections are as follows:

• June 18 – Primary & Special Primary Election • Aug. 27 – Runoff Primary & Special Runoff Primary Election
