Ruth A. Edmonds

June 2, 1937 – March 27, 2024

Ruth A. Edmonds, longtime Okmulgee County resident, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Clarehouse in Tulsa. She was 86 years of age. Ruth was born Wednesday, June 2, 1937, in Boynton to the late Leo Nicholas and Nellie May (Ward) Admire. She graduated as Valedictorian from Liberty-Morris High School. Ruth married Aaron John Edmonds on July 16, 1956, at St. Andrew Church in Haskell. She loved her role as wife and mother of six children. Ruth was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she served on the Alter Society. For many years, she taught catechism classes to the church youth. In addition to being a homemaker, Ruth worked for several years as a secretary at the Lloyd Rader Center.

Preceding Ruth in death were her parents; husband; and a brother, Jim Admire.

Survivors include her children, Pat Edmonds and wife Eva, John Edmonds and wife Brenda, Brad Edmonds and wife Anne, Jeff Edmonds and wife Debbie, Christy Edmonds and Matt Edmonds and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Logan Edmonds, Carson Edmonds, Shan Edmonds, Brian Edmonds, Jenny Woody and husband Nathan, Max Edmonds, Marie Edmonds, Joe Edmonds and wife Sidney, Meagan Vandecar and husband Ryan, Nikki Vanderford and husband Robby, Joani Dotson and husband Kevin, Aaron Howard, Emily Edmonds, Annie Edmonds and Lily Edmonds; great grandchildren, Kurt Edmonds, Briana Edmonds, Ady Woody, Cason Woody, Sadie Woody, Ainsley Woody, Van Edmonds, Stella Vandecar, Noah Vandecar, Riley Vanderford, Clay Vanderford, July Dotson and Kolter Dotson; a brother, Bob Admire and wife Donna; and sister-in-law, Joann Baker.

Ruth will be remembered for the love she had for her family and faithfulness to her church.

The family received friends Tuesday evening, April 2, 2024, from 6-7 p.m. at McClendon- Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Recital of the Rosary began at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Father Kenneth Harder will officiate. Interment will follow at Morris Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Logan Edmonds, Carson Edmonds, Shan Edmonds, Max Edmonds, Joe Edmonds and Aaron Howard. Van Edmonds and Cason Woody will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
