Morris Public Schools will undergo a leadership transition for the 2024-25 academic year, as Superintendent Dr. Chris Karch departs for a new role, accepting the position of superintendent at Atoka Public Schools.
With the open superintendent position, the Morris Public School Board went to work to seek out a successor that aligned with the Mission and Vision for Morris Public Schools.
The board was able to interview a candidate within the district that has actively worked with the students, staff and the community on a daily basis.
The Morris Public School Board is excited to announce that the District’s new Superintendent for the 2024–25 school year will be Mrs. Becky Alexander. Alexander currently serves as the Elementary School Principal for the district and will transition into the role on July 1, 2024.
Alexander has been part of the district for 27 years, including roles as a Kindergarten teacher, First Grade teacher and Reading Specialist, known to many throughout the district as “Mrs. A.”
Alexander is a graduate of Preston High School, and attended Northeastern State University for her Education degree. She received her Master’s in Reading and decided to continue her education journey in a leadership role by getting additional certification in Administration. Mrs. Alexander was also a National Board Certified teacher from 2003-2013. The past eleven years she has been the Morris Elementary Principal.
Alexander’s two children are both graduates of Mor- ris Public Schools, and her mother volunteers at the school daily. Mrs. Alexander wants the students, staff, and patrons of the community to know she is committed to excellence in herself and will continue to strive for the best for all students at Morris Public Schools. She is a firm believer in making sure that each student feels valued and seen. Mrs. Alexander is ready for this opportunity to serve the students, community and staff.
