County approves radar donation from OCCJA to Sheriff’s Office
By JOSHUA JACKSON REPORTER

Fire Sales Tax resolution discussed

In a brief session, the Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners approved previous meeting minutes, the payment of claims, as well as a 324A claim Bristlecone Road project.

They also approved a resolution accepting a donation of four radars from the Okmulgee County Criminal Justice Authority (OCCJA) to the Sheriff ’s Office. Sheriff Eddy Rice said that his department was already using the radars “in school zones and some trouble areas” and said the move is a way to track the radars through county inventory. He also thanked OCCJA Director Shannon Clark for the support.

Later, the board discussed a resolution for fire departments to own assets purchased with the Fire Sales Tax fund, with a clause that these revert to the county if, for some reason, a department no longer exists.

According to Assistant District Attorney Greg Stidham, he and ADA Carmen Rainbolt will work to draft this resolution, which Commissioner Erik Zoellner asked to be brought back up in two weeks.

Before entering executive session, the commissioners received the weekly update from Emergency Management Director Jeff Moore, which included info on his recent WebEOC training session with the Oklahoma State Department of Emergency Management and the department’s efforts to mitigate the impact of last week’s severe weather.
