OCEM Director reports on recent wildfires
The Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners approved several items during their regular meeting on Monday.
Approvals included Blanket Purchase Orders for District Two – $700 for Cintas and $1,000 for RPI – as well as a donation of sick leave between two Treasurer’s Office employees.
The board then approved utility permits for RW2 in District One and RW20 in District Two, along with a private property agreement with Morningstar Church. Reimbursement claims were approved for the Election Board Secretary’s salary and the District Attorney, as well as the allocation of Alcoholic Beverage Tax and Motor Vehicle Tax revenues.
The board also passed a resolution to accept an ECE grant on behalf of the Sheriff ’s Office. Auditors required the passing of a resolution for the grant which will be used – at least in part – to acquire new fingerprinting equipment.
In addition, Okmulgee County Emergency Management Director Jeffrey Moore reported on his recent training experience and updated on the county’s efforts against wildfires affecting thousands of acres in the state. In his report, Moore also noted 26 grass fires, six structure fires, one vehicle fire and two hazmat incidents.
Moore once again reminded residents to be aware of the fire risk and the steps they can take to preven harm.
