Pastor Larry Lynn Schoonover

Brother Larry was born on September 13, 1956, in Ardmore to late parents James Arthur Schoonover and Patsy Ruth Hatfield Schoonover. Larry grew up in County Line and later moved to Zanies, where he attended school until his freshman year. Larry transferred to Ringling Public School in Ringling and graduated in 1974. He met his wife, Charlotte Ragan Schoonover, who also graduated from Ringling High in 1974. They were married that same year on August 26 in Gainesville, Texas.

Together, they raised three children, Kandi Stanton, Christopher Schoonover and Jennifer Banos. Larry surrendered to the ministry in 1979 and served 30 years before retiring. Their first ministry took them to Shirley Basin, Wyo. from 1979-1982. Their next move was to serve in the church at Dubois, Wyo. from 1982-1987. From there, they went to Torrington, Wyo. from 1987-1991. Larry and his family returned to Oklahoma and took on another ministry in Wapanucka. His last ministry was at Okmulgee First Baptist Church, where he retired after 30 years. They are current members of Preston Baptist Church in Preston.

Preceding him in death are his parents James Arthur Schoonover, Patsy Ruth Hatfield Schoonover, a brother, James Randell Schoonover of Lone Grove.

September 13, 1956 – February 23, 2024

Survivors include his wife Charlotte Schoonover of Beggs; three children: Kandi Stanton and husband Chad Stanton of Beggs, Christopher Schoonover and wife Paula Schoonover of Granfield and Jennifer Banos and husband Orion Banos of Beggs; two brothers: Robin Schoonover and Colin Schoonover; seven grandchildren: Kaylee Burton and husband Cody Burton, Chandler Stanton and wife Shelby Stanton, Kaden Stanton, Konner Stanton, Ty Schoonover, Trayce McKenzie and husband Eric McKenzie and Braden Morris; four great grandchildren: Rylee Mae, Luke, Brantand Lorelai; and numerous family members, friends and church family.

Larry dearly loved you all. Brother Larry was laid to rest at Beggs Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
