On Feb. 13, voters also overwhelmingly approved Okmulgee Public School’s $17.75 million bond proposal, with over 71 percent in favor. The bond will fund improvements across various school sites.
Superintendent Renee Dove wanted to thank everyone for their support: “I just want to take a minute to thank the residents of Okmulgee, on behalf of the entire school community. I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your overwhelming support in passing the bond for our Okmulgee Primary FEMA approved storm shelter/Gymnasium, the updates to our AgED facilities, our Dunbar Intermediate tennis courts, and parking lot, and our very own Harmon Stadium.
Your vote is not just a commitment to education, it’s an investment in our children and the entire Okmulgee community. Your belief in the power of academics and athletics and the importance of providing a safe and quality learning and competing environment speaks resoundingly about your dedication to the well-being of our youth.
The new facility and the update to the other facilities will serve as hubs for fostering growth, creativity and a strong foundation for generations to come. Please know your trust and support of this initiative will create an environment where our students can and will soar academically, athletically, socially and emotionally. Your commitment to education reflects a shared vision of ensuring every child receives the best possible start in their educational journey.
We are so touched by your generosity and faith in our mission to prepare our students to be lifelong learners and contributing citizens in our ever changing society.
Your vote is not just a milestone, it’s a testament to the unity and strength of this community I am proud to call home.
As we move forward, you can be sure that we will be keeping you informed of the process, and progress of the build. Thank you again for your support in making this dream a reality.
Renee Dove, OPS Superintendent
