— About FFA
FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success. Members are future farmers, chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, international business leaders, teachers and premier professionals in many career fields. FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education. The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change.
There are three ways you or your organization can get involved: • Join us in person! Come join in on the fun and place your silent or live pie auction bids. See the renovated high school cafeteria and meet many of our FFA members and families who will be in attendance to tell you about how they are getting involved. Leave the evening with a few pies in tow to enjoy or share with family!
• Sponsor a pie auction dessert or silent auction basket! Bake (or buy) your favorite pie/ dessert for the pie auction. (The pie that sells the highest will get special bragging rights…) Put together a small basket of goodies, promotional materials, or a gift certificate, or find another business/ organization to help out. You can bring your items to the AgEd Building or high school Monday through Thursday, or directly to the event Friday evening.
• Consider sending in a sponsorship directly! If you would rather send in a financial sponsorship directly, you can do so by sending a check to my mailing address below or requesting an invoice to my email at ttaylor@ okmulgeeps.com. Please make payable to Okmulgee Ag Boosters. You can find examples of specific sponsorship amounts in the attached “By the Numbers” document. (For example, you could sponsor 2 students to attend the Oklahoma FFA State Convention by sending in $700.)
