Leda Faye McElhaney (Thornburg)

Leda Faye McElhaney (Thornburg), age 88, of Okmulgee passed on January 22, 2024. She was born in Okmulgee the daughter of the Late William and Mary Thornburg.

Leda loved spending time with family and friends. She loved dancing and crafting, and made beautiful dolls, including beautiful Indian dolls, and crocheted all the clothes. She crocheted blankets and pillows, loved garage sales, playing cards, country

and gospel music and going to the lake with family and friends. Leda also loved flowers, especially roses, and watching the hummingbirds on the front porch with dad. She also made the best beans, potatoes and cornbread, covered in onions. Yum.

Leda is survived by her husband Alford McElhaney, daughter Trease Creighton, daughter Janice York (David) and Buddy McElhaney and seven grandsons, along with many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Leda was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Thornburg; son Alford; sisters Beverly Ann, Elsie, Mary, Barbara, Rosie and Marinea; brothers James, Bill, Edward Gene, Roy and Harold Thornburg.

Viewing will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Gary Kelley’s Add’ Vantage Funeral Services of Tulsa, 9761 E. 31st St. in Tulsa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2024, at Okmulgee Cemetery on US-62.
