Okmulgee County has seen record-setting cold temperatures the last few days, with snow blanketing the area, and practically shutting down area businesses and schools. It was quiet in downtown Okmulgee overlooking the square. A big thanks to all the emergency responders who don’t have a day off as they watch out for the community. The Okmulgee Times thanks the Okmulgee Fire Department for their prompt response to check out an ‘odd’ smell Monday morning in the office that caused alarm for employees, but was given the all-clear a short time later. Be looking for the upcoming edition “Salute to Hometown Heroes” which will highlight local agencies and their hard work protecting citizens.
