County to delay change in payroll periods
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

The Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners voted to amend a resolution regarding the change in payroll periods during their meeting Tuesday morning.

Instead of beginning in February, the twice-amonth pay calendar will begin in April.

That decision came upon the recommendation from KellPro that “it could mess our taxes as we pay taxes, quarterly taxes…So it’s the recommendation now that we don’t start the payroll change in February, but we wait till April so won’t mess up our quarterly payments to the Internal Revenue Service. Probably a good idea to make that correct,” Commissioner Erik Zoellner said.

A list of the pay dates were also asked to be added to the amended resolution.

Bid #27 for a 2000 or newer bulldozer for Twin Hills Fire Department was opened. The bid accepted came from Outlaw Bulldozer in the amount of $73,300. Chief Robert Pinkston looked over the details of the bid and all elements of the equipment were satisfactory.

Agenda items approved were:

• Meeting minutes from Dec. 18.

• Resolution of Disposing of Equipment: four office chairs from the County Assessor’s Office.

• Error of Corrections for the distribution of CIRB funds into the county accounts.

• Requisitioning Officers for Fair Board: Jim Hall and Charles Robinson; Receiving Officer: Jody Gilroy.

County Emergency Management Director Jeffrey Moore is on the road to recovery following his release from the hospital, and was in attendance and shared a brief update with the board: “I was able to still work and do a lot of work. I assisted in getting equipment in place for the City of Okmulgee, who had a water leak, who had to use our light tower … We facilitated getting BIA … some help on a fire down in District Three.

“Also, since I haven’t been here, we did go to the Four Corners Emergency Managers conference the first week in December, and I got sick afterwards… We got to go through some good seminars. One of the best seminars we got to go through is the Tulsa Police Department was there talking about the shooting in St. Francis, so we get to see a lot of things of that and how Emergency Management integrated with that as well and how their response happened and how the Tulsa police department depends on different things that facilitate that so we’re excited about that,” Moore said.

The board then went into executive session to discuss four listed items on the agenda.
