Okmulgee Police and Fire responded to a vehicle crash and fire Wednesday afternoon near 20th and Florida Streets.
After pulling the driver from the burning vehicle, it was discovered that the male occupant had been shot several times, according to OPD Chief Joe Prentice. While at the scene, Chief Prentice stated that dispatch received a call from a man who claimed he ‘had just shot his father-in-law’ and identified himself as Native American.
The chief stated the case was turned over to tribal police, so no further details were available, nor the identity of the caller.
The victim, Chief Prentice stated, also was suffering from burns, but according to his latest inf ormation, was still alive.
