Tiger Classic slated for next week

Annual cage tourney to begin Monday at 5 p.m.

The annual Wilson Tiger Classic varsity basketball tournament is scheduled to take place next week at the Tiger Den at Wilson (Henryetta) High School.

Both brackets will feature a 7-team tournament field with the top seeded teams in both brackets earning a first-round bye and automatic spot in the winner’s bracket semifinal round.

The seven Oklahoma high schools that will battle for the team championships at the annual week-long event are Summit Christian, Riverfield County Day School, Weleetka, Webbers Falls, Epic Charter School (out of Tulsa), Schulter, and tournament host Wilson (Henryetta).

Summit Christian will receive a first-round bye in the girls bracket, while Riverfield will earn the automatic semifinal spot in the boys bracket.

The week-long tournament will officially begin Monday at 5 p.m. with a boys first-round matchup between the Summit Christian Eagles and the Schulter Bulldogs. The other boys opening-round contest will pit the host Wilson Tigers against Epic Charter at 7:30 p.m.

Monday’s only first-round game in the girls bracket will see the Weleetka Lady Outlaws take on Epic Charter at 6:15 p.m.

Tuesday’s tournament action will kick off at 5 p.m. with a girls opening-round battle between the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors and Schulter Lady Bulldogs, followed by the lone boys firstround contest at 6:15 p.m. between the Weleetka Outlaws and Webbers Falls Warriors.

The final girls opening-round game on Tuesday will feature the host Wilson Lady Tigers squaring off against the Riverfield Lady Ravens at 7:30 p.m.

There are no games scheduled for Wednesday with the tournament action returning Thursday with winner’s bracket semifinal action, beginning with a girls bracket contest at 4:30 p.m.

Friday’s action will feature just two games, beginning with a girls consolation semifinal game at 4:30 p.m. followed by a boys consolation semifinal contest at 5:45 p.m.

The week-long tournament will conclude on Saturday with six games, beginning with the girls consolation finals at 1 p.m.
