Approves MOU with MN for road work
During Tuesday’s meeting, the Okmulgee City Council voted to establish a reward system for information on criminal activity. The ordinance amends Title 2, Chapter 33, creating Section 040, repealing all ordinances to the contrary, and making it effective immediately. Chief Joe Prentice remarked that this recommendation came after attempts to gather information following an officer-involved shooting earlier this year.
The council also approved a memorandum of understanding with the Muscogee Nation regarding improvements to a few areas within city limits. Per the memorandum, the City of Okmulgee will maintain the affected roads once completed. The improvements will address North Wood Dr., E. Airport Road, and Preston Dr.
They then approved an amendment to the FY 2023-24 annual budget that increases revenues and expenses in the General Fund. Guy Engineering Services was selected as the preferred engineering firm to provide bridge inspection services to the Okmulgee Municipal Authority, in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards.
The purchase of a lift assembly for the 2019 Freightliner Sanitation truck for a total cost of $25,512.82 from United Engines was also approved.
Earlier in the meeting, the council voted to approve the minutes from the meetings on Oct. 17 and 20, as well as the payment of claims. They then heard the October reports from city departments. A few numbers from those reports can be found in the In the Know section of this edition.
