Freida Yvonne Daniels

February 14, 1936 – October 23, 2023

Freida Yvonne (King) Daniels, lifelong Morris resident, was born on February 14, 1936, and passed peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the age of 87. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, her family was her joy and her strength throughout her life.

Freida was born to Thomas Aubrey King and Opal Pearl (Luna) King, who preceded her in death along with her siblings Iria Lee Jones and Aubrey “Brub” Kendall King. Her husband of many years, Raymond Marine Daniels, predeceased her in 2016, in addition to her grandson Matthew Crosslin. Yet her love and dedication to her family continue vibrantly through her two daughters, Sharron Crosslin and husband Jimmy and Linda Maddox, both of Morris; her three grandchildren, Melinda Reeves and husband Eric, Tyler Maddox and wife Victoria, David Crosslin and wife Amy; three great-grandchildren, Joy Reeves, Jace Reeves and Wilder Lechtenberg. She is also survived by her sisters Helen Matthews and husband Jim, Marietta Howell, and Carol Lynn Miller and husband Kenneth; along with many adoring nephews and nieces.

Freida received her early education from Prairie Bell School before graduating from Morris High School. Her work ethic and sharp intellect were evident in her successful career as a Supervisor for Directory Assistance for Southwestern Bell until her retirement in 1988. Later, she also worked as a switchboard manager for OSUIT for a few years in the early 1990s.

True to her generous and warm nature, Freida was an active member of the Town and Country Christian Church in Okmulgee. However, the heart of Freida’s life was her family and her home, whether she was nurturing her garden, canning bountiful harvests, quilting heart made keepsakes or hosting a family get-together, she was always inspiring a sense of unity and love. Her love for family and friends was the center of everything she did, and she spent her life making sure those she loved felt treasured.

A memorial fund in honor of Freida Daniels has been established with Town and Country Christian Church. Please mark contributions “Freida Daniels Memorial Fund” and mail to: Town and Country Christian Church, PO Box 1016, Okmulgee, OK 74447.

A service celebrating Freida’s life was held Monday, October 30, 2023, at Town and Country Christian Church in Okmulgee, with Pastor Terry Carris officiating. Frieda will be laid to rest at Okmulgee Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to share memories online at www.brownfamilycares. com. The family of Freida Daniels entrusted her care and services to Brown Funeral Home & Cremations, 231 E. Commercial St, Broken Arrow, OK, 74012, 918-251-5331.
