Scare on the Square returns

Costume contest planned

Okmulgee Main Street is excited to host the Scare on the Square event this year!

The annual downtown trick or treating event will take place Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m.

The deadline for merchants and organizations to register has passed, but there will be plenty of candy around the square, along with participating businesses in the area.

Also, don’t miss the costume contest for children, adults and pets in the Jim Newport Pocket Park (across from Kirby’s Café) at 6 p.m.

A full list of those participating will be published in Friday’s edition.

— Christmas Parade Coming Soon

Also, it’s not too early to start making plans for the annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade in downtown Okmulgee.

The parade will be Dec. 7, and this year’s theme will be “Miracle on Main Street.”

Be sure to visit downtown and enjoy dinner and shopping prior to the kick-off of the parade at 7 p.m.

Okmulgee Main Street Director Heather Sumner also announced there will be a special guest prior to the parade for all the little boys and girls to take a free picture (using your own device) with Santa.

The parade is free to enter, and entry forms are available at www.okmulgeemainstreet. org under the Events tab.

The first two-blocks of the parade will be for sensory sensitive individuals (less lights and sound).

Line up for parade entries will start at 5:30 p.m., judging will commence at 6 p.m. with a pre-show on the north side of Council House Square and the parade will start at 7 p.m.

The parade route will start at 6th & Alabama heading east and ending at 6th & Muskogee.

Call the Okmulgee Main Street office at 918-758-1015 for more information.
