Rides for the upcoming Pecan Festival were erected Monday afternoon in advance Thursday’s opening of the three-day event. Be sure to pick up a voucher for $25 wristbands for the carnival rides at several locations. Yesterday, wet weather hampered some operations, but installers used breaks in the rain to continue setting up the amusements. Rain moved into the area Monday evening, and the forecast predicts rain for the next few days. The chance for rain diminishes toward the weekend, but temperatures will still be in the high 70s and lower 80s. There are lots of activities going this week, including the Harvest Spoon Chili Fest Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on 7th Street. For more details about the Pecan and Chili Fest, see the special insert inside today’s edition.
