Pamela Sue Mitchell

Pamela Sue Mitchell was born to the late Raymond Lawrence Rommel and Grace Eleana Madden Bergman in Arkansas City, Kansas on Friday, December 5, 1952. She passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, in Okmulgee.

Pamela attended Arkansas City High School where she graduated with the class of 1970. Throughout her high school days, Pamela worked at the local A&W. In 1986, Pamela married Lester Lee Mitchell in Tulsa. She enjoyed doing many things. She had a passion for sewing, gardening, and watching her grandchildren play sports. Anyone that had Pamela’s food knew what an outstanding cook she was. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels and at the Okmulgee Animal Shelter. She had a love for animals, especially horses. Every now and then she enjoyed taking trail rides with her friends. She also really enjoyed spending time at Eufaula Lake with her family.

Proceeding Pamela in death are her parents, Raymond Lawrence and Grace Eleana; a son, Matthew Drew Hankins; and a sister, Kay Chapman.

She is survived by her husband, Les Mitchell, of the home; a son, Jeff Hankins, of Euless, Texas; December 5, 1952 – October 8, 2023

a daughter, Jena Nation and husband Joe, of Mustang; a stepson, Lester Mitchell, Jr., of Carmel, Ind.; grandchildren, Piper Hankins, Parker Hankins, Emerson Nation, Hudson Nation, Mia Mitchell, and Luke Mitchell; brothers, Chris Rommel and wife Becky, of Ellettsville, Ind., Jan Chapman and wife Christie, of Chula Visita, Calif., and Ross Rommel of Arkansas City, Kansas; sisters, Penny Johnson of Glendale, Ariz., a sister-inlaw, Nancy Hyde of Lake Quivira, Kansas. She had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members that she loved that will miss her tremendously.

Friends may visit the funeral home Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 1-6 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 4-6 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023, at Parker Cemetery, located at 10189 292nd Rd. in Arkansas City, Kansas, with Pastor Kyle Carlson officiating. Casketbearers will be Parker Hankins, Ryan Rommel, Ronnie Rommel, Joe Nation, Les Mitchell and Hudson Nation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Okmulgee Humane Society, located at 1239 N. Okmulgee Ave. Okmulgee, OK 74447.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mc-Clendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on Pamela’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon- winters.com.
