County runners shine at Henryetta CC meet

Wilson boys, Schulter girls lead way with runner-up finishes

Okmulgee County was well represented at last Saturday’s Henryetta Invitational cross country meet at historic Nichols Park in Henryetta.

A total of 128 runners from six county schools were amongst the huge field at the annual event with three county teams walking away with team runner-up trophies.

The Beggs Golden Demons finished second in the boys elementary 1-mile run, while the Wilson Tigers and Schulter Lady Bulldogs finished runner-up in the varsity Class 2A races.

The Beggs Lady Demons came away with a thirdplace finish at the meet in the girls elementary 1-mile race, while the Dewar Lady Dragons finished third overall in the varsity girls Class 2A 2-mile race.

The other county team finishers at the Henryetta Invitational were as follows: Elementary Girls Division • Henryetta – 7th place Elementary Boys Division • Schulter – 7th place

Junior High Girls Division • Okmulgee – 7th place

• Schulter – 8th place Junior High Boys Divison • Henryetta – 4th place

Varsity 3A-4A Girls Divison • Henryetta – 5th place

Varsity 3A-4A Boys Divison

• Beggs – 8th place The top individual runner from Okmulgee County was Beggs’ Levi Barnes, who took home the top medal in the boys elementary 1-mile race, crossing the finish line in a time of 6:02.68.

Beggs’ Ella Mudd was the top girls finisher in the girls divison, taking home the individual runner-up medal in the girls elementary 1-mile race with a time of 6:55.24.

The top county girls runner in the junior high 1-mile race was Beggs’ Rylan Wesley with a 15-place finish, while the top county boys runner in the junior high divison was Henryetta’s Cadyn Gillispie with a fourth-place finish.

Schulter’s Caidence Campbell edged out teammate Payton Campbell for top individual honors for Okmulgee County in the 2A varsity girls 2-mile race, earning a Top 10 finish at the event with a 10th-place medal.

Schulter’s Kris Thompson was the top county runner in the 2A varsity boys 5K race, crossing the finish line in 16th place.

Henryetta’s Kenleigh Kaler paced the county individual runners in 3A-4A varsity girls 2-mile race with a 13th-place finish, while Beggs’ Isaiah Clay was the top county individual runner in the 3A-4A varsity boys 5K race with a 25th-place finish.
