Okmulgee Surge YMCA Swim Team places 4th Overall at State

The Okmulgee Surge YMCA Swim Team recently placed 4th overall at the 2023 YMCA Summer State Meet in Shawnee. Here are the results from the Aug. 19 competition:

Girls Ages 9-10 Anna Kesler

Competed in 5 Events

• 50 Yard Backstroke – 9th place

• 50 Yard Freestyle – 8th place — Bentlee Jones

Competed in 6 Events

• 50 Yard Backstroke – 6th place

• 50 Yard Breaststroke – 4th place

• 50 Yard Freestyle – 3rd place — Mya Paladin

Competed in 6 Events

• 50 Yard Backstroke – 3rd Place — Penelope Zuppardo Competed in 6 Events

• 50 Yard Freestyle – 5th Place

• 100 Yard Freestyle – 6th place -The Girls Ages 9-10 also placed 2nd in a 200-yard Medley Relay and 2nd in a 200-yard Freestyle Relay. Both relays were made up by Anna Kesler, Bentlee Jones, Mya Paladin and Penelope Zuppardo. — Boys Ages 9-10 Jaxon Gentry

• 200 Yard Freestyle – 5th Place -The Surge celebrated the swim season with a pool party at the YMCA on Aug. 18. During the party, three members received awards:

• Bentlee Jones – Junior Most Valuable Swimmer

• Nylen Gentry – Senior Most Valuable Swimmer
