Staying in Shape
“Train yourself in godliness, for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:7b-8) We live with health and long life as a primary focus. That isn’t such a bad idea, keeping ourselves in reasonably good shape. After all, we walk around in a body provided for us by God, the creator and architect of all we see, so it’s to honor Him that we take care of ourselves. Like anything else, however, it’s good in moderation. Letting the physical preparation take precedence over the spiritual is not what the Lord intended.
