OJFA seeks championship gold in 2023

Junior Bulldogs to open season Saturday at Prague

The Okmulgee Junior Football Association will begin its 33rd season this Saturday at Prague against the Prague Lil Red Devils.

The season opener will get underway with thirdgrade action. The other three contests will feature the fourth-grade, fifth-grade, and sixth-grade football programs.

Saturday’s season opener in Prague was scheduled to begin with the third-grade game at 12 p.m., but will get started at 10:30 a.m. The fourth-grade contest is scheduled to get started at 12 p.m. followed by the fifth-grade game at 1:30 p.m. and the sixthgrade contest at 3 p.m.

Saturday’s season opener will be the only time for a 10:30 a.m. start time.

The scheduled times for the remainder of the regular-season scheduled games will be as follows:

• 3rd Grade: 12 p.m.

• 4th Grade: 1:30 p.m.

• 5th Grade: 3 p.m.

• 6th Grade: 4:30 p.m. After Saturday’s season opener in Prague, the Junior Bulldogs will return to the field September 9 at home against the Bethel Wildcats.

The other home scheduled games for the OJFA squads will be September 23 against Seminole, September 30 against Okemah, and October 14 against Guthrie.

The other road games for the Junior Bulldogs this season will be September 16 at Cushing, October 7 at Holdenville, and October 21 at Bristow.

The Junior Bulldogs will compete in the Red Dirt Football League for the third-straight season with the first round of playoffs being held October 28, the semifinals taking place November 4, and the championship games November 11. The opening-round playoff, semifinal, and championship games will be held at sites determined by the league.

The Junior Bulldogs will play all of their home games at historic Harmon Field in Okmulgee with admission to each home game as follows:

• Students: $3

• Adults: $5

• Senior Citizens: $3 — Okmulgee Junior Football Association 2023 Season Schedule Aug. 26 – at Prague Sept. 2 – Bye Week Sept. 9 – vs Bethel Sept. 16 – at Cushing Sept. 23 – vs Seminole Sept. 30 – vs Okemah Oct. 7 – at Holdenville Oct. 14 – vs Guthrie Oct. 21 – at Bristow Oct. 28 – First Round Playoffs Nov. 4 – Semifinals Nov. 11 – Championships
