Henryetta Youth Football releases 2023 schedule
By LARRY OWEN SPORTS EDITOR

Lil Knights to begin season Sept. 2 at Spiro

The Henryetta youth football program will kick off its 2023 campaign one month from today – September 2 with a road trip to Spiro and a showdown with the host Spiro Bulldogs.

The Lil Knight squads will compete for the second- straight season in the Southeast Youth Football League in 2023 and will also be joined in the league by Pocola, Eufaula, Antlers, Savanna, Talihina, Hartshorne, and Wilburton.

Last season, Henryetta sent all three teams to the postseason with the 8 and Under squad emerging as the league runner-up, falling to Pocola by a 20-14 decision. The 10 and Under and 12 and Under teams reached the semifinals last year before having their championship dreams dashed with losses to Pocola and Talihina, respectively.

After the season opener at Spiro, the Lil Knights will travel to Pocola in Week 2 for a meeting with the Pocola Indians, then will host the Eufaula Ironheads in their home opener on September 16.

Henryetta will enjoy a Bye Week in Week 4 (Sept. 23), then will embark on a 5-game journey to round out the regular- season schedule, beginning with three-straight home games against Antlers, Savanna, and Talihina, respectively, in Weeks 5-7 before closing out the regular season with back-to-back road games at Hartshorne and Wilburton, respectively.

The Southeast Youth Football League playoffs will begin November 4, followed by the semifinal rounds November 11 and the league championship games November 18.

All of the Lil Knights’ home games in 2023 will take place at historic Cameron Field in Henryetta.

Gametimes for each week will begin at 10 a.m. with the 8 and Under contest, followed at 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively, for the 10 and Under and 12 and Under games.
