Preston releases fastpitch schedule
By LARRY OWEN SPORTS EDITOR

Lady Pirates open 2023 campaign Aug. 8 at Wilburton

In a little over one month, the Preston Lady Pirate fastpitch softball team will begin their 2023 season on the road.

In 2023, the Lady Pirates will look to snap a 21-year absence in the fastpitch state tournament and will begin the journey towards their first appearance at State in fastpitch softball since 2001 on August 8 with a trip to Wilburton for a 3-way showdown with the Talihina Lady Tigers and the host Wilburton Lady Diggers.

Following the season opener at Wilburton, the Preston diamond squad will open the home portion of their regular-season schedule two days later – August 10 – against the Pawhuska Lady Huskies. The home opener will also be the Lady Pirates’ district opener.

The Preston ladies will close out their first week at two festivals, competing at the Beggs Festival August 11 and the Okemah Festival August 12.

The other home opponents for the Lady Pirates will be Mannford (Aug. 14), Henryetta (Aug. 15), Rejoice Christian (Aug. 29), Mounds (Sept. 5), Dewar (Sept. 11), Wilburton (Sept. 14), Porter (Sept. 15), and Morris (Sept. 18).

The other road foes will be Mounds (Aug. 21), Pawhuska (Aug. 22), Crowder (Aug. 24), Rejoice Christian (Aug. 25), Eufaula (Sept. 19), and Mannford (Sept. 25).

Besides Beggs and Okemah, the Lady Pirates will also compete at the Rogers State University Festival on August 17 and the Kiefer Festival on August 26.

The Preston squad will also compete in three tournaments in 2023, beginning with the Okmulgee Tournament August 18 and 19. The Lady Pirates will also compete at the New Lima Tournament August 31 and September 1 and the Mounds Tournament September 7-9.

The 2023 postseason is scheduled to begin with the Class 2A regional tournament September 21 and 22, followed by the super regional tournament September 28 and 29 and the state tournament October 5-7.

Below is the complete 2023 regular-season schedule for the Preston Lady Pirate fastpitch softball team.
