Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddy Rice stated on Monday, June 12, around 6 p.m., deputies responded to the 1300 block of South Oklahoma Street on a welfare check.
Upon their arrival, deputies located three children at the home, two suffering from significant injuries.
The children were taken to the Okmulgee hospital by deputies. One of the children was in such medical distress, he was air-lifted to a Tulsa hospital for intensive medical treatment.
Investigators learned the parents of the children were native and non-native, so a collaborative investigation began with the Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police Department.
Lighthorse Police arrested Tambara Maclean (Collins) on June 13, and John Ray Collins was arrested June 14 by the OCSO.
Collins is being held in the Okmulgee County jail on a $100,000 bond, facing complains of Child Abuse by Injury.
Sheriff Rice thanks the CNLH for sending investigators and willing to work on collaborative efforts like this. He pointed out that these efforts to conduct investigations of such importance could not be successful without professional investigators from both agencies. He looks forward to continuing their collaborative efforts to bring effective policing strategies to residents of Okmulgee County.
