Morris’ Maddie Moore selected to 3 All-State teams
By LARRY OWEN SPORTS EDITOR

Okmulgee County fans will get three more opportunties to watch Morris standout Maddie Moore compete at the high school level over the next two months.

Moore, who received her high school diploma this past May, will close out her high school athletics career this summer after being selected to three different All-State teams.

‘It’s an honor to (get selected),’ Moore said, about her All-State selections.

The first All-State Game Moore will be part of this summer is the Oklahoma Fast Pitch Softball Coaches Association All-State Game this Saturday at Tom Heath Field at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond. Moore will be a member of the Middle East All-State team at the event, which will be coached by Tecumseh head coach Chad Trahan, and is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start time.

The other Middle East All-State team members include Jayden Anderson and Cheyenne Wood of Tishomingo, McKenna Ingram of Bristow, Grace Hulsey of Chandler, Carey Folsum of Tahlequah Sequoyah, Lexi Cramp of Hilldale, Katelyn Fleming, Bristin Hayes, Cadence Oliver of Tecumseh, Adyson Roberts of Lincoln Christian, Katie Larson and Caty Brack of North Rock Creek, Kinley Brand of Heavener, Morgan Wright of Kansas, Bailee Campbell of Skiatook, and Kayden Bean of Valliant.

The second All-State Game Moore will be part of this summer is the Oklahoma Slow Pitch Softball Coaches Association All-State Game June 17 at Tom Heath Field at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond. Moore will be a member of the Middle East All-State team at the event, which will be coached by Coalgate head coach Logan Brown, and is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time.

The other Middle East All-State team members include Emily Robinson of Caddo, Jordana Fuller and Braedy Wardrope of Coalgate, Keegan Rowland of Colbert, Erica Scherltz of Fairland, Lynzi Kelley of Haskell, Kinley Brand of Heavener, Kaelbi Duvall and Abby Huie of Howe, Brynn Surmont of Oktaha, Lanni Chitwood and Kylee Smith of Pocola, Charley Hampton of Silo, Laren Taylor and Larmie Rains of Tushka, Kayden Bean of Valliant, and Madi Faust of Vanoss.

The final All-State Game Moore will be part of this summer is the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Girls Basketball Team July 26 at Sapulpa High School. Moore will be a member of the Small East All-State team at the event, which will be coached by Caddo head coach Kolby Johnson and Gore head coach Staci Simeroth, and is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.

The other Small East All-State team members include Parker Stevenson of Bethel, Brook Rutland and Makenzy Herman of Dale, Emily Robinson of Caddo, Catyn Graham of Pittsburg, Tiani Ellison of Silo, Shayna Hendrix of Kiefer, Gracie Lute of Howe, and Madi Faust of Vanoss.

Moore was a 4-year starter in softball and basketball at Morris and also competed on the high school track and field team throughout her high school career.

During her senior year, Moore helped guide the Lady Eagle fastpitch softball team to the Class 3A state fastpitch tournament and also was on a Lady Eagle basketball team that came one win away from punching their ticket to the Class 3A state basketball championships.

Moore also was a member of the Lady Eagle basketball team that made it all the way to the area consolation finals in 2021 and the area consolation semifinals in 2022.

Now that the Morris standout has received her high school diploma, the next step will be college.

This Fall, Moore will take her softball skills to the collegiate level, signing with McLennan Community College 2-year junior college in Waco, Texas – two months ago, where she will be tasked with manning one of the three outfield spots for the Highlander softball squad during the 202324 campaign.

Moore joins a Highlander team that finished 44-13 in 2023 and were 27-5 in conference play this past season.

Before she heads down south to Texas, Okmulgee County fans will have three more chances to watch Moore perform at the high school level, beginning this Saturday in Edmond at the OFPCA All-State Games.
