The FBI is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of a male victim Saturday evening.
According to Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice, around 7:50 p.m. June 3, the OPD was requested by Okmulgee County EMS to a home on North Okmulgee Street regarding an assault victim.
When officers arrived at the scene, EMS personnel had pronounced the male victim deceased. An investigation began with the District 25 Violent Crime Task Force responding.
“The crime scene was processed for evidence,” Chief Prentice said, “and during the initial hours of the investigation, officers learned that a party had occurred at the residence and most of the persons present were tribal members, including the victim.”
Based on that information, the investigation was turned over to the FBI.
Prentice stated that although the victim had been tentatively identified, the medical examiner would make the official identification. Any requests for additional information was directed to the FBI.
