With the school year coming to an end, libraries around the county are preparing their summer reading initiatives. Here are some of the fun activities planned for the coming months:

Okmulgee Public

Library

The Okmulgee Public Library will begin its summer reading program on June 1. Registration for the program opened up on Monday. The registration itself is a one time thing, but parents must call or come into the library to sign up for each indi- vidual program per week.

All of the events are for ages 5 through 12, unless otherwise stated. These events include:

• June 14 – Magician John Pansze

• June 21 – FFFCU Budget or Bust On (6th-8th grade at 1 p.m., 9-12th at 2:30 p.m.)

• June 28 – Red Dirt Reptiles

• July 5 – Birds of Prey

• July 12 – Josiah Jackson (Skippy)

• July 19 – Danny Gordon Drawing Class (Ages 12-18 at 1 p.m. only)

• July 26 – Mad Science Readers and parents are also encouraged to download the Beanstack app or log on to okmcity.beanstack. org. Here they can track their reading and earn rewards by completing various challenges.

The Henryetta Public Library will be hosting their summer reading program as well, with signups beginning June 5-9. This program will be for all 1st through 5th graders, and 6th through 8th grade students. There will be prizes given for those who read all summer.

The program will span six Mondays in June and July, and those interested can get more information at signups.

Librarian Joann Hott stated there will be special programs presented on June 19 and 26, and July 3, 10, 17 and 24.
