Fundraisers underway to aid families
Members of the Henryetta community have joined together this week in prayer vigils and other gatherings as they draw strength to deal with this week’s tragic events, and the murder of six people, including _ve teens.
About 200 people gathered Monday evening at the Henryetta High School gymnasium for a vigil. On Wednesday, other events were held at area churches.
Henryetta Public Schools have provided mental health professionals and faith-based clergy to assist sta_ and students.
Faith leaders, such as Marcus Whitworth Sr., were available to talk and give comfort.
“ere were at least eight Henryetta pastors and Christian leaders who provided counseling and encouragement all during the day in the library at the Henryetta Middle School,” he said.
Whitworth added that the horrible tragedy will only prove to further solidify the growing movement in Hen- ryetta.
A special banner and Memorial Garden were created this week by various ministries in the Henryetta community at the home of Brittany Brewer. Whitworth added meals, food items and gifts were also given to Brittany’s family. Hot meals will also be delivered to the Brewer home for the next week.
Displays showing support were also placed at the home, school and businesses as peers and friends remembered the young lives taken in the senseless tragedy – Ivy, Brittany, and Michael, Tiffany, and Rylee and their mother, Holly – all taken too soon.
Various businesses have stepped in to hold fundraisers such as car washes, T-shirts and more to aid the families. There are also Go-FundMe accounts set up for those wishing to donate.
Funeral arrangements for Brittany Brewer are pending with Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.
