Demons, Morris’ Wright miss cut at regionals
For the third-straight season, the Henryetta Golden Knight varsity golf team will have a single representative at the Class 3A state golf championships.
Two years ago, James Brison was the lone representative for the Knights, finishing 49th overall.
Last year, the lone HHS state representative was Eli Bernard, finishing 51st overall.
This year’s lone Knight representative at the annual 2-day, 54-hole, tournament will be sophomore Brady Norman.
Norman earned his spot at next week’s Class 3A state golf championships at Lakeview Golf Course in Ardmore by finishing second overall on the individual leaderboard at Monday’s Class 3A regional golf championships at Arrowhead Golf Course in Canadian. Norman completed Monday’s 36-hole regional tournament with an overall score of 169, firing rounds of 92 and 77, respectively, at the postseason event.
Norman was joined at Monday’s regional tournament by Morris’ Jaxen Wright and the Beggs Golden Demon team.
The Demons finished the 36-hole event with a team total of 892, firing rounds of 454 and 438, respectively.
The top individual performer for Beggs on Monday was Camden Ross with a 36-hole total of 191, firing rounds of 102 and 89, respectively.
Lewton Reed was next individually for the Demons at the regional tournament with a 36-hole total of 195, firing rounds of 98 and 97, respectively.
The other individual scorers for Beggs on Monday were Baydon Lewis at 223 (107-116) and Christian Drinnon at 283 (147-136).
Wright was the lone individual representative for Morris at the 36-hole event, finishing with a total of 189, firing rounds of 91 and 98, respectively.
