Henryetta, Morris to send individuals to 18-hole event

The Beggs Golden Demon varsity golf team punched their ticket to next week’s Class 3A regional golf championships with a sixth-place finish at Monday’s regional qualifier at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Claremore.

Morris and Henryetta will also have representatives at Arrowhead Golf Course in Eufaula next Monday, as both county schools had one individual qualify at Monday’s regional qualifier at Fountainhead Creek Golf Course in Checotah.

At Heritage Hills, the Demons finished with a team score of 434 to secure the sixth and final team qualifying spot at the qualifier.

Camden Ross led the Beggs linksters at Monday’s qualifier with an 18-hole score of 97. Baydon Lewis was next individually for the Demons at 106, followed by Lewton Reed at 109 and Christian Drinnon at 122.

At Fountainhead, the individual qualifier for Henryetta was Brady Norman, who finished the 18-hole event with a score of 85. Jaxen Wright was the lone individual qualifier for Morris, finishing Monday’s event with an 18-hole score of 92.

As a team, the Knights finished at 379 and just missed being one of the Top 6 qualifying teams at the event.

Besides Norman’s qualifying score of 85, the other Henryetta individual scores at Monday’s qualifier included Maverix Randleman at 95, Hunter Gobin 97, Caveryn Foster 102, and Lucas Thompson 103.

The Class 3A regional golf championships at Arrowhead will take place Monday with the Demons needing to finish in the Top 6 in the team standings in order to punch their ticket to the Class 3A state golf championships at Lakeview Golf Course in Ardmore, while Wright and Norman will seek individual spots at State by battling other individuals for one of the Top 6 individual scores not on a qualifying team at Monday’s regional tournament.
