Lady Knight golfers capture home tourney crown

The Henryetta Lady Knight varsity golf team took home the team championship at their annual home tournament last Thursday afternoon at the Henryetta Golf Club.

The Lady Knights finished the 18hole event with a team score of 381 with Bethel being the closest challenger to the team championship with a team score of 388.

The top individual scorer for the Henryetta golf team was senior Skylar Morris, who carded an 18-hole score of 89. Morris’ total was good enough for third overall on the individual leaderboard.

Senior Mabrey Been was two strokes behind Morris at 91, which was good enough for fifth overall.

Breaa Stockholm was seventh overall individually at the home tournament with an 18-hole score of 92, while Abby Pemberton rounded out the Lady Knight scoring at 109.

The Beggs Lady Demons were among the tournament field last Thursday, finishing the event with a team total of 430.

The duo of Piper Nix and Destiny Jackson were tops individually for the Lady Demon golfers with 18-hole scores of 99.

Kaitlyn Brafford was next on the individual list for Beggs with a total of 101, followed by Sydney Gwinup at 131 and Elodie Most at 136.

Both county golf teams were in action, along with the Morris Lady Eagles, Tuesday at the Class 3A regional qualifier tournament at Fountainhead Creek Golf Course in Eufaula.

In order to compete at next week’s Class 3A regional tournament, the county teams will need to be one of the top six teams or a team tied for sixth according to score, while the county could also be represented at the regional tournament if an individual from one of the three county teams finishes sixth or tied for sixth at the qualifier and not on a qualifying team.

The Class 3A regional tournament is scheduled to take place April 25 at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Claremore, while the Class 3A state golf championships in scheduled to take place May 3 and 4 at Lake Murray Golf Course in Ardmore.
