October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and last Friday, many of the the individuals and agencies that work behind the scene were recognized for their work. Okmulgee County Family Resource Center, Inc. (CASA) Director Keyna Richardson was one of those honored Friday for her work, as Okmulgee City Council Vice-Mayor Marcus Jeffrey presented her a proclamation from the city in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Victims should know they are not alone, and there are many avenues available to help them. One agency, The Muscogee Nation Family Violence Prevention Program, now officially called The Center for Victim Services, continues their mission in serving victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes
