Okmulgee County EMS board member and chairman Ron Ballard was presented a plaque for his retirement and contribution to EMS on Oct. 13. Ballard contributed 48 years to EMS. Starting in 1974 as a first responder after serving in the military and coming home, to finishing his career as the chairman of the board for EMS. Chief James Nichols stated “Ron has seen a lot of changes in EMS over the last 48 years. His dedication and gift of serving the board has made a positive impact on this service.” Ron was treated to cupcakes and lunch last week and visited with current board members and staff. “We wish Ron a happy retirement and thank him for all that he’s done,” Nichols stated. Okmulgee County Emergency Management Director Tim Craighton is shown with Ballard as he accepts the plaque. Craighton also thanks Ballard for the many years of support to emergency management.
