Another successful Pecan Festival is in the books, from the ribbon cutting to officially open the event (pictured above) to the contests, fun and food. The community braved the hot weather to celebrate and enjoy during the three-day festival in downtown Okmulgee. Due to the very hot temperatures, some events, like the Fish Scramble, were adapted to a water balloon fight that was enjoyed by all ages. If you didn’t have a chance to enjoy the carnival, be sure to visit them this week at the Omniplex during the Muscogee Nation Festival. A big thanks to the Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce, the festival sponsors and the many volunteers and organizations that helped make it a success.
