In recognition of the National Day of Prayer, a group of local citizens and ministers gathered May 5 in front of Okmulgee City Hall. Mayor and Pastor Mickey Baldwin led the short event. Prayers were especially said on behalf of the city and county, and all those affected by the flood that swept the area on Wednesday into Thursday. At the event, two Shofars were sounded. National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation.
